GHJ
STAFF
GUY
W. HEALY, DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMING
- guy@guyhealyjapan.com
In 1984, Guy and his wife Yoko moved from the
United States to Nagasaki, Japan to open an agency to promote
American colleges to Japanese students. That agency, originally
The American Connection, became officially known as GUY HEALY,
JAPAN in 1993 when a partnership was formed with Fukuoka resident
Koichiro Kita.
Guy's background is in Recreation Management.
He worked for the Seattle Parks & Recreation Department for
five years and spent two years in Saudi Arabia managing a recreation
complex for American families.
Guy and Yoko have one child - Maiko, age 16. When not planning
new projects for GHJ you are most likely to find him on the golf
course.
KOICHIRO
KITA, DIRECTOR OF MARKETING - kita@guyhealyjapan.com
Koichiro has a long history in the field of Study
Abroad. Before becoming a partner in the formation of GHJ, he
had worked for ten years with two different Japanese agencies
involved in study abroad programs, including four years with ISA.
And, he had practiced what he preaches, having spent his college
days at several schools in the United States as well as a short
stint in the U.K.
Even though his career has him traveling all the time, he never
seems to get enough of flying. He has a private pilot's license
and enjoys nothing more than an afternoon in the sky.
Koichiro and his wife Yuko have three children - Ryunoshin, Kaoruko
and Hayato.
YOKO
HEALY, NAGASAKI OFFICE MANAGER - yoko@guyhealyjapan.com
It was Yoko's experience studying in the United
States at Eastern Washington University, where she met Guy, that
became the motivation for the Healys to move to Japan in 1984
to start helping others understand the benefits of studying abroad.
A native of Nagasaki, Yoko loves working with people and is also
a very experienced English teacher.
When not working or looking after daughter Maiko,
Yoko enjoys art, music or a relaxing trip to the hot baths.

Kendall's twin boys, Liam and Jameson, are almost three.

AYAKO

Ayako transferred from Saga Women's Junior
College to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls through the

joining Guy Healy, Japan's full-time staff in June 2003, Ayako
worked as a tour guide in Las Vegas. She enjoys traveling, listening
to music, karaoke, cooking and eating. Ayako is always hungry
and eating a lot!
SHUNYA
KOMORI, PROGRAM COORDINATOR - komori@guyhealyjapan.co.jp
Shunya studied International Cultural Relations
at his university in Osaka. After graduation, he studied how to
teach Japanese to foreign people and became a Japanese language

decided that he wanted to work more broadly in the field of international
cultural relations. He began working with Guy Healy, Japan in
February 2004. Shunya enjoys music and usually attends a live
concert once a month.

OUR

Each year we are humbled by the strong volunteer support that
our projects receive by so many. For their support, we would like
to give special thanks to: Coach Sumio Yamasaki, Kakumei High
School, the many American and Japanese host families, the University
of Evansville Lady Aces, Janet Planet Trio, Jeff & Keiko Mukuo
